# Amazon SES alternatives for transactional email in 2026

By Tunbosun Ayinla, Founder of Prontuno. Last updated: September 26, 2026.

Amazon Simple Email Service is AWS’s pay-per-email sending service, configured through the AWS console, APIs, and other AWS services.

If you send transactional email only and want delivery logs without building them on AWS, the shortlist below covers the main options. Each section also notes where the provider is the weaker choice.

Reasons to switch

## Why teams look beyond Amazon SES

Sandbox and approval

New accounts can only send to verified addresses until AWS approves production access.

Look forSending to real users soon after a short review.

Assembling your own tooling

Delivery events go to other AWS services, so logs, alerts, and dashboards are yours to build.

Look forDelivery logs and signed webhooks that work without extra infrastructure.

Reputation is your job

Bounces, complaints, and IP warmup are managed by your team.

Look forA provider that runs the IPs, handles bounces, and warms dedicated IPs for you.

FAQ

## Questions about Amazon SES alternatives

What is the best alternative to Amazon SES?

It depends on what you send. For transactional email at a fixed monthly price, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails for $99. For inbound email or stored templates, Postmark and Resend cover more.

Is Prontuno cheaper than Amazon SES?

At a $99 monthly budget, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails and Amazon SES sends 618,750. Amazon SES sends more at that budget. At $299, Prontuno Plus sends 2,000,000, and at $999 Prontuno Unlimited has no volume cap. Compare any budget in the

Can I switch from Amazon SES without rewriting my code?

If you send over SMTP, yes: only the host, port, and credentials change. SES API calls go through AWS SDK request objects, such as Destination and Content, so they need replacing with calls to Prontuno’s REST API. If your app sends email from one place, such as a mailer class, updating it is usually a small change.

When is Amazon SES the better choice?

Amazon SES is the better choice if you want the lowest price per email at most budgets; your infrastructure already runs on AWS; you have engineers to build event handling and monitoring; or you also need to send marketing email.

Do I need a new domain to switch from Amazon SES?

No. Add your existing domain to Prontuno and publish the DNS records it generates. They use their own names, so your Amazon SES records keep working until you finish switching.

Does Prontuno track opens and clicks?

No, by design. Prontuno sends your links and content exactly as written, so password reset and sign-in links are never rewritten through a tracking domain, and no tracking pixel is added. Delivery, deferral, and bounce events are still reported in your logs and webhooks. To measure clicks, add a parameter to links on your own domain and record it in your app.

Can I send marketing email with Prontuno?

No. Prontuno is for transactional email only, such as password resets, receipts, and account alerts. Every account is reviewed, which keeps marketing mail off the shared IPs. Newsletters and campaigns need a separate provider.
