By Tunbosun Ayinla, Founder of Prontuno. Last updated: September 26, 2026.

Reasons to switch

## Why teams look beyond Resend

Overages at scale

Each 1,000 emails beyond the included volume is billed, so costs grow in step with sending.

Look forIncluded volume that covers your busiest month, or prepaid credits instead of overage invoices.

Domain limits on Pro

Pro includes 10 sending domains. More domains need an add-on or the Scale plan.

Look forEnough sending domains on the plan you can afford today.

Shared infrastructure with marketing mail

Some teams prefer a provider that only accepts transactional email.

Look forA provider that vets senders and keeps marketing mail off its shared IPs.

FAQ

## Questions about Resend alternatives

What is the best alternative to Resend?

It depends on what you send. For transactional email at a fixed monthly price, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails for $99. For the lowest price per email at most budgets, Amazon SES costs less but needs more setup on AWS. For inbound email or stored templates, Postmark covers more.

Is Prontuno cheaper than Resend?

At a $99 monthly budget, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails and Resend sends 171,000. Prontuno sends more at that budget, but Resend can cost less at lower volumes. Check your own volume in the

[pricing calculator](https://prontuno.com/pricing/#comparison-heading)

. Checked September 26, 2026.

Can I switch from Resend without rewriting my code?

If you send over SMTP, yes: only the host, port, and credentials change. Resend’s API uses the same basic fields as Prontuno, from, to, subject, and html, so simple sends need few changes. Check attachments and custom headers against the Prontuno reference. If your app sends email from one place, such as a mailer class, updating it is usually a small change.

When is Resend the better choice?

Resend is the better choice if you build templates with React Email; you want official SDKs for your language; you need inbound email; or you want transactional and marketing email from one vendor.

Do I need a new domain to switch from Resend?

No. Add your existing domain to Prontuno and publish the DNS records it generates. They use their own names, so your Resend records keep working until you finish switching.

Does Prontuno track opens and clicks?

No, by design. Prontuno sends your links and content exactly as written, so password reset and sign-in links are never rewritten through a tracking domain, and no tracking pixel is added. Delivery, deferral, and bounce events are still reported in your logs and webhooks. To measure clicks, add a parameter to links on your own domain and record it in your app.

Can I send marketing email with Prontuno?

No. Prontuno is for transactional email only, such as password resets, receipts, and account alerts. Every account is reviewed, which keeps marketing mail off the shared IPs. Newsletters and campaigns need a separate provider.
