In detail

The differences that matter

At $299, Prontuno Plus sends 2,000,000, more than SES Essentials at 1,868,750 but fewer than à la carte at 2,990,000. At $999, Prontuno Unlimited has no volume cap and includes a dedicated IP.
Getting started
New SES accounts start in the sandbox and must request production access before sending to any recipient. Prontuno reviews applications within 24 hours, and approved accounts start with 10,000 free credits.
Delivery visibility
SES publishes delivery events to services such as Amazon SNS or EventBridge, which you connect and store yourself. Prontuno includes 30 days of delivery logs and signed webhooks.
Operations
On SES, your team manages reputation, bounce handling, and IP decisions inside AWS. Prontuno operates its own sending IPs, reviews every sender, and warms and monitors dedicated IPs for you.

Switching

Move from Amazon SES in four steps

  1. Step 1

Request access and describe what your app sends. Applications are reviewed within 24 hours.

  2. Step 2

Add your sending domain and publish the DNS records Prontuno generates. They use their own names, so your Amazon SES records can stay while you switch.

  3. Step 3

Change your SMTP settings, or update your API calls to Prontuno’s format, then send a test email.

  4. Step 4

Add a webhook endpoint for delivery events, and import your suppression list through the API.

FAQ

Questions about Prontuno and Amazon SES

Is Prontuno cheaper than Amazon SES?
At a $99 monthly budget, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails and Amazon SES sends 618,750. Amazon SES sends more at that budget. At $299, Prontuno Plus sends 2,000,000, and at $999 Prontuno Unlimited has no volume cap. Compare any budget in the pricing calculator. Checked September 26, 2026.
Can I switch from Amazon SES without rewriting my code?
If you send over SMTP, yes: only the host, port, and credentials change. SES API calls go through AWS SDK request objects, such as Destination and Content, so they need replacing with calls to Prontuno’s REST API. If your app sends email from one place, such as a mailer class, updating it is usually a small change.
When is Amazon SES the better choice?
Amazon SES is the better choice if you want the lowest price per email at most budgets; your infrastructure already runs on AWS; you have engineers to build event handling and monitoring; or you also need to send marketing email.
Do I need a new domain to switch from Amazon SES?
No. Add your existing domain to Prontuno and publish the DNS records it generates. They use their own names, so your Amazon SES records keep working until you finish switching.
Does Prontuno track opens and clicks?
No, by design. Prontuno sends your links and content exactly as written, so password reset and sign-in links are never rewritten through a tracking domain, and no tracking pixel is added. Delivery, deferral, and bounce events are still reported in your logs and webhooks. To measure clicks, add a parameter to links on your own domain and record it in your app.
Can I send marketing email with Prontuno?
No. Prontuno is for transactional email only, such as password resets, receipts, and account alerts. Every account is reviewed, which keeps marketing mail off the shared IPs. Newsletters and campaigns need a separate provider.
