In detail

The differences that matter

Price at volume
Postmark bills by monthly volume tier and charges overages above it. At $99 a month, the best Postmark option sends 79,000 emails. Prontuno Standard includes 500,000 for the same price, and anything beyond that uses prepaid credits, not an overage invoice.
Features beyond sending
Postmark includes stored templates on every plan, inbound processing on Pro and Platform, and broadcast streams for marketing mail. Prontuno sends transactional email only and does not receive email yet. If you rely on those features, Postmark is the better fit.
Domains and IPs
Postmark allows 5 sending domains on Basic and 10 on Pro. Dedicated IPs start at $50 a month and need 300,000 or more emails a month. Prontuno Standard includes 1,000 domains per team, and Unlimited includes a dedicated IP that Prontuno warms and monitors.
Message history
Postmark keeps 45 days of message history, with longer retention as an add-on. Prontuno keeps 30 days of delivery logs and sends each event to your webhooks as it happens.

Switching

Move from Postmark in four steps

  1. Step 1

Request access and describe what your app sends. Applications are reviewed within 24 hours.

  2. Step 2

Add your sending domain and publish the DNS records Prontuno generates. They use their own names, so your Postmark records can stay while you switch.

  3. Step 3

Change your SMTP settings, or update your API calls to Prontuno’s format, then send a test email.

  4. Step 4

Add a webhook endpoint for delivery events, and import your suppression list through the API.

FAQ

Questions about Prontuno and Postmark

Is Prontuno cheaper than Postmark?
At a $99 monthly budget, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails and Postmark sends 79,000. Prontuno sends more at that budget, but Postmark can cost less at lower volumes. Check your own volume in the pricing calculator. Checked September 26, 2026.
Can I switch from Postmark without rewriting my code?
If you send over SMTP, yes: only the host, port, and credentials change. Postmark’s API uses its own field names, such as From, To, and HtmlBody, so each send call needs updating to Prontuno’s from, to, subject, and html fields. If your app sends email from one place, such as a mailer class, updating it is usually a small change.
When is Postmark the better choice?
Postmark is the better choice if you process inbound email, such as replies or support mail; you want stored templates edited outside your code; you send marketing email from the same provider; or you need more than 30 days of message history.
Do I need a new domain to switch from Postmark?
No. Add your existing domain to Prontuno and publish the DNS records it generates. They use their own names, so your Postmark records keep working until you finish switching.
Does Prontuno track opens and clicks?
No, by design. Prontuno sends your links and content exactly as written, so password reset and sign-in links are never rewritten through a tracking domain, and no tracking pixel is added. Delivery, deferral, and bounce events are still reported in your logs and webhooks. To measure clicks, add a parameter to links on your own domain and record it in your app.
Can I send marketing email with Prontuno?
No. Prontuno is for transactional email only, such as password resets, receipts, and account alerts. Every account is reviewed, which keeps marketing mail off the shared IPs. Newsletters and campaigns need a separate provider.
