Cloudflare Email Service alternatives for transactional email in 2026

By Tunbosun Ayinla, Founder of Prontuno. Last updated: .

Cloudflare Email Service adds outbound sending to Cloudflare’s developer platform. As of September 26, 2026, Email Sending is in public beta on the Workers Paid plan.

If you send transactional email only and need a generally available service with no daily caps, the shortlist below covers the main options. Each section also notes where the provider is the weaker choice.

Reasons to switch

Why teams look beyond Cloudflare Email Service

Beta status

Email Sending is still in public beta, which some teams avoid for critical mail such as password resets.

Look forA generally available service for password resets and receipts.

Daily quotas

New accounts start with a conservative daily quota, which can delay launches and large batches.

Look forNo daily caps, so launches and bursts send on time.

Platform coupling

The service suits apps on Cloudflare Workers best.

Look forStandard SMTP and a REST API that work from any stack.

FAQ

Questions about Cloudflare Email Service alternatives

What is the best alternative to Cloudflare Email Service?
It depends on what you send. For transactional email at a fixed monthly price, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails for $99. For the lowest price per email at most budgets, Amazon SES costs less but needs more setup on AWS. For inbound email or stored templates, Postmark and Resend cover more.
Is Prontuno cheaper than Cloudflare Email Service?
At a $99 monthly budget, Prontuno Standard sends 500,000 emails and Cloudflare Email Service sends 271,000. Prontuno sends more at that budget, but Cloudflare Email Service can cost less at lower volumes. Check your own volume in the pricing calculator. Checked September 26, 2026.
Can I switch from Cloudflare Email Service without rewriting my code?
If you send over SMTP, yes: only the host, port, and credentials change. Workers binding calls and Cloudflare REST API calls need replacing with calls to Prontuno’s REST API or SMTP relay. If your app sends email from one place, such as a mailer class, updating it is usually a small change.
When is Cloudflare Email Service the better choice?
Cloudflare Email Service is the better choice if your app already runs on Cloudflare Workers; you send a few thousand emails a month; you also route inbound email through Cloudflare; or you want email billed with the rest of your Cloudflare usage.
Do I need a new domain to switch from Cloudflare Email Service?
No. Add your existing domain to Prontuno and publish the DNS records it generates. They use their own names, so your Cloudflare Email Service records keep working until you finish switching.
Does Prontuno track opens and clicks?
No, by design. Prontuno sends your links and content exactly as written, so password reset and sign-in links are never rewritten through a tracking domain, and no tracking pixel is added. Delivery, deferral, and bounce events are still reported in your logs and webhooks. To measure clicks, add a parameter to links on your own domain and record it in your app.
Can I send marketing email with Prontuno?
No. Prontuno is for transactional email only, such as password resets, receipts, and account alerts. Every account is reviewed, which keeps marketing mail off the shared IPs. Newsletters and campaigns need a separate provider.
